Sometime in 2008 I went out and got drunk at the Casino with Chris and Dave.

The next day we were sitting around in my brothers backyard talking about cars or whatever. I was musing about bodykits and how it might be cool to have one, but I couldn't justify 4 figures on it.

Daveo piped up from across the table and under a huge pile of his own hair with "Dude you can get a knockoff BN kit for like 500 bucks"

Suddenly, buying a bodykit was the best idea on the planet, and within 10 minutes we were all crowded around the PC organising big chunks of shitty fibreglass to get shipped to our respective homes.

The dim, hazy plateau of The Afternoon After a Night on the Cans is evidently the easiest time for me to make major purchase decisions, as I made another one just recently.

About a week ago, on an equally hungover and neutered afternoon, we all took turns riding Daves scooter to its absolute limit up and down some suburban streets in Alderley. Sometime that day, enclosed within a slightly-too-small helmet, the idea was galvanized within me to buy a scooter of my own.

I hit ebay, gumtree and bikesales every day for the following week. The number 1 most desirable was a Ruckus, but they were pretty much non-existant. My heart was snatched by the Honda Dio, but there were none local. Zumas and Jogs were looking pretty good too, but by Thursday I still hadn't found something that was semi-local, the right price, and also had ridiculous aftermarket options. Then on Friday, with an incredible stroke of luck, I managed to score one of the handful of Honda Ruckuses that were brought into the country before all the importers gave up, AND for a pretty fucking reasonable price. No work got done that afternoon.

The bike was in Sydney, Chris and Charlie picked it up for me tonight, and I received this movie from Chris a little earlier this evening;

Apparently that was on the Sydney Harbour bridge, which has a speed limit of 80 mind you.

Holy hell man, I'm so ready for scooter life.

Using various drill bits, tin-snips, a rubber hammer and sheer force of will I cut through the battery tray this weekend.

Despite eye-balling the measurements for the most part, the hole is in the right spot. So one job got crossed off the list but another got added on, as the exhaust side pipe doesnt have a fitting for the boost controller hose. I gotta go and see MY WELDER about that sometime.

Also I hung out with my sisters new cat, Archer.

As cats go, hes pretty rad. Apparently you need to do an interview before you adopt a cat from the RSPCA now? Thats a pretty good idea.

I was walking out my driveway on friday morning, about to go to the city and fork over a however many million dollars it costs to get a new drivers license, when I found the letter from Yellow Cabs saying they found my wallet 3 fucking weeks later. Can't tell if thats bad timing or good timing.

As for the intercooler core mounting bolt I shredded last weekend, I got some advice to have a go at it with an Easy-Out. This turned out to be an elaborate practical joke, designed to frustrate/horrify those who don't yet know that Easy-Outs are fucking useless.

Instead, I managed to drill the remains of the bolt out without destroying the thread at all, and the core pretty much jumped onto the front of my car from there.

Same 15 rows, but a little wider and sits a good 2 inches higher than the old one.

Also this weekend I listened to the whole 12th Man/Wired World of Sports series again.

Me and Tony went to watch the football after work on Friday night. Best idea ever.

Good race day on the weekend, no question. The all time top spectacle of the day was the stiletto footraces.

Played a shitload of pool and lawnbowls yesterday and drank a buncha dranks. I don't think anyone could ever tell an exciting story/anecdote about lawn bowls. Even the best bowl in the world that won you the grand championship and saved the bowls club from going into receivership is still super not interesting at all. I'm in America atm

Specifically I'm in Oregon, upstairs in an unassuming B&B with fake roof tiles and rooms built for dwarves.

We have visited a lot of National Parks and State Parks and other things that have had gorges and mountains carved into them millions of years before the Bible says God created the earth. I always wonder if these people get upset about these hethen park rangers and their heretical claims about the origin of this rock pool or that waterfall.

Man I went to a WORK DINNER on friday night.

Turkish restaurant at Southbank. I ate a turkish peppeoni pizza. It was just like a regular pepperoni pizza except shaped like a canoe and cost my employer 20 bucks.

Then me and some selected workbros went to a pub. The rest of the party went to play fucking LASER FORCE.

The next day me and Daveo went out to Lakeside for their 50th anniversary noise-restriction free nostalgic race day thing. I thought it would be pretty cool but it turned out to be way cooler than what I was thinking.

I won't get into the categories and historic info of the cars that were out there for fear of getting shouted down by Car Guys like every Casey Dhnaram speedhunters post ever made.

Safe to say there was a bunch of stuff out there that has been on a Wide World of Sports montage at some point.

The gemini racing was probably the raddest stuff to watch.

Just one big scrum of cars rolling past every minute and 30 seconds. Trading paint, smashing out tail-lights like some teenage piece of shit in a mall carpark. The closest thing I could compare it to is watching 20 front rowers all trying to fight their way to the top of an escalator.

I had a pretty cool friday man.

~After work me Dave and Pat went down to the pub for cheap drinks and cheap pool. Turns out I'm actually pretty good at pool now.

A couple of hours later me and Dave took off to The Lab to get in on Michelles after work drinks, which were even cheaper.

There was a costume theme. The official name was "Yulefest" but the word I got was just "wear a horrible knitted sweater". Man we had that shit COVERED.

Alex and Tony rocked up too. This shit was actually supposed to be our warmup/pre-drinks garbage, I even had a shower in a retarded toilet and a change of clothes so I was ready for the rest of the night.

Buuuut drinks were so cheap and Tony was tuning some bird so our resolve kinda collapsed and we just garrisoned this shit and went to work.

On Saturday I saw CAPTAIN AMERICA which was cool. Its a movie about a midget who undergoes a procedure to grow breasts.

Based on some drunken chest pounding that went down at The Lab in the late hours of Friday, I resolved to get my car started again on Sunday. I jumped it off the Swift and thought shit was sweet, but even after half an hour of driving around 4051 and a trip to Coles, it didnt have enough POWER to start a second time.

Thanks to a subconscious survival instinct of mine, JT had ended up in the car with me during the test drive, so he was on hand to walk back to my place and smoke darts while I collected the Swift and jumped the S13 a second time. Then he drove it back to my place at the very top of first gear leaving a black cloud of 6 month old fuel behind him.

Me and Daveo the dickhead went down to Sydney on the weekend to hang out with old mate. It was a pretty excellent time. I'm pretty sure I have more cool bros to drink with in NSW than I do here. They're like the fair weather crew who eat lunch on the other side of the Oval so you don't get to hang out with them that much, but when you do its a way rad time.

First, Dave scooped the pool in terms of his seating allocation both to and from Sydney;

We got in on Thursday night when it was extra cold. Chris picked us up from the airport in the GTR because 1 hour on a plane is not enough time for me to be wrapped up in a Recaro seat with my legs shoved up my ass.

Unpacked at the penthouse apartment condoplex, watched Geordie Shore, then at 1am decided to do a gastronomic tour of various 24hr azn food places/crime syndicates. It was retarded cold.

On Friday we circled the mall and I bought a $10 hoodie that I could wear under my jacket on Saturday due to the inclement horsehit ice rain/death wind weather. Chatswood HYPE didn't have any $30 shoes in my size that werent super uggo so I didnt buy anything else.

On Saturday night we went out for the big dogs birthday and it was really just so great.

Had a few pres at the mansion, watched part of Step Up 3: Sexy Abs Edition and drank giant drinks from giant cups.

This great guy who is a Landrover (or Rangerover? I never learnt the difference) dealer offered to give us a ride to the first venue in this big fuckoff thing. It was huge and brand new and had 2 turbos and woodgrain and SUPER ignorant turbo flutter that you could produce at any Stop sign you pleased to thrill the crowd. It was all like "SSSSSHAH-TSCHA-TSCHAA-THSAAAAHHH-tscha" and variations thereof.

So the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 of us rode this thing to a suitably terrible bar called the Orchard and drank EVERYTHING, along with the Facebook and Extended Internet that were there waiting for us. Charlie Roe was there with a girl whos pants were LITERALLY a Nebula.

As these things normally go I caught a contact high off Charlie et al plus the hail of cheap drinks and the world opened up like a fabulous carnival/casino/jungle gym and everything went into high gear. We left the Orchard because Chris excercised his birthday boy rights to swat glasses out of peoples hands and have them smash all over the floor. The logical next step was St Leonards, fucks me how we all got there.

I went under a pool table, won a much over-hyped arm wrestle with a former representative Australian womens water polo player (champion?), got the hiccups, won a game of pool, got cut off, struck a matchhead into the palm of my hand, ate half a bag of burgerrings and still had a 50 left in my wallet.

Me Chris and Dave started walking home at 4ish. With 2 jackets on over a shirt and a skin full of Kirov I had Ice Wizard levels of cold resistance, even when every breath was hanging in the air like a righteous bong hit. Chris manifested a taxi before us through sheer drunken force of will and the walk was suddenly over. The climb up the stairs to my air mattress was a lot harder.

Sunday was written off like Alex was driving it through Aspley on a Tuesday morning (DAAAMN) and Monday was just hangin out.

Now I'm back home and my bird is back home and nothing is on the horizon until next month.

Well the pubcrawl went ahead.

I had a really great time right up until the last bar where everyone kind evaporated and then I don't know what.

OK I don't know for sure that the chainring won't fit/can't be made to fit. I bought it on impulse cos it looks so cool, even just sitting there on the floor. As a standalone piece of metal I think it has merit.

If for some reason it did fit, my rudimentary grasp of pulleys, or whatever, says the bike would be retardedly high-geared, given that the standard chain ring on these things is about half the size.

That would be cool tho, Wangan BMX.

My days have been DULL.

My week was DULL.

Saturday I went round to Alex's to play videogames and get barked at by his stupid dog that I hate. Tony rocked up too and pretty much set the standard for BMX mono's and BMX mono faces;

Then we decided to Go Out, so we gathered at my place first and had a bunch of drinks.

As these things ~~usually~~ sometimes go, "a bunch" turned out to be "a bunch too many". We skip some scenes, and everything went from Having A Blast With My Friends, to sitting outside the venue alone in the freezing fucking cold with a wafer thin jacket, no phone and even less dignity.

I don't know how long I sat out there, because I didn't have a phone to check the time. Suffice to say that ruined my evening, in fact it ruined my evening so hard it even ruined the memories of the parts that were fun. It retrospectively went back and destroyed any good feeling I'd had for the past 12 hours.

Dropped my bird off at the Airport today.

I rode a fixed gear for the first time today. Its pretty weird, I dont think I could get into it. An actual road bike would be cool though.

Dave got this thing for free somehow. Its pretty cool, but its got some kinda Wangan Midnight C1 Outbound sprocket in it, how he ever rode this shit uphill is beyond me.

Here I am all clipped in riding up and down a pitch black street with the occasional blinding strobe flash in my eyes. In all the photos of Dave he looks like a spaz so I won't put them up as it will reflect poorly on me.

After we were done riding bikes we sat in front of A-10c and tried to do an engine startup from scratch.
Then we tried to do an engine startup from scratch at a simulated pitch black 2am with no interior lights.

I don't want to pay this phone bill, cos that means I'll have to login to my banking stuff, which means I'll probably see how much I spent yesterday.

We went to the races. The weather was utterly amazing.

Get this, if the sky was water, it would be perfect aqua blue water lapping at the milkshake white shores of the perfect island paradise. The island does not represent clouds in the sky tho, because there were none, but the island needs to be in there otherwise the water would be too deep to get the light blue colour, know what I mean?

Shit was crazy packed too, everyone was there to see some horse that was apparently kicking ass all over town. I didn't bet on it cos if this was a horse movie, it was due for a loss after its initial rise to fame which would test its character, then there would be some other setback (jockey would get hooked on coke or whatev) the horse would have to overcome, and eventually it would rise up and win the same race next year.

Anyway after that horse won, we caught a free bus to the Normanby. This was probably the best bus ride ever because it will filled with these South African dudes who were self-aware enough to know how funny their accent was and leveraged that by shouting at everyone not on the bus and doing impromptu football chants about how the girl in the red dress should "take it off".

Hung at my place for a while, Michelle left to go and see Rent (?!), I ate two pepperoni pizzas, then we went to fucking Annerley, roamed the streets for a while, then went to the Valley, then I don't even know. Everything just kept going and going, like you know how in the most recent Casino Royale movie it ends like 5 different times but more shit just keeps happening? It was like that.

Getting to wear a tie and stuff was fun, everyone looked super hot. Totally happy with the way everything panned out.

Got really fucken sick on Tuesday night. In fact so did everyone else I went out with on Saturday night.

So I spent Wednesday downloading and then finishing Portal 2, which was pretty fun.

Took a half day today cos the Cold and Flu medication I'd been on all week suddenly turned me into a drooling moron. Stumbled home and played with my bike.

For starters, my wheels arrived;

I picked up a headset from 99 Bikes last night, which ended up costing more than the rest of the bike put together. So the forks are on.

Current problem is the top bolt on the forks is kinda threaded. You can screw it in, but you can't torque it tight enough to hold the handlebar stem down. I could take the bolt off the other bike, but why tear it apart for one stupid bolt? Rather go bolt shoppin.

I took the handles off cos they were uggo and black. I need some coloured grips that clash violently with the rest of the bike, cruisin ebay for some now.

I tried to swap the fork bearings from the old bike onto the new one but they didnt sit right, I dont know the proper words for what was wrong but this thing was curved when it should have been flat.

I left the frame down at 99 Bikes and theyre gonna source the right round pieces of metal to make this shit happen. I don't know what I'm doing but its kinda fun.

I wanna build a BMX, so I drove out to Petrie and bought this frame and forks off some dude.

Its a 24" top tube, which is bigger than my old bike. If I'd thought about this a little more I would have investigated something that had a taller middle tube thing as well (like this), but that shit didn't occur to me until Pat pointed out how short it was.

Yeah Pat, I swung by his house on the way home cos he said he had BMX parts for me. He was mowing the lawn when I pulled up looking suburban as fuck.

Anyway I went home, put on a singlet n shit and started pulling apart my old old bike. In 10 minutes I had transferred the seat onto the new frame. For reference, the first time I tried to transfer a car seat from one vehicle to another it took me 2 hours, then the next day, as I was about to head to QR, I realised I forget the seatbelt buckle and discovered that the seat was too high to drive in while wearing a helmet. Bikes are so cool to work on.

Got sick of getting my face mashed in on Fight Night Champion so I drove out to QR to watch some dudes do skids. The whole thing was set up on this big patch of road behind the hill on turn 1, which kicked ass cos you could get right up close to the action instead of peering at it from a mile away in pit lane like some retard.

The weather was perfect too, really pleasant. Pleasant enough to mention.

There were famous internet bros there and stuff, no charge to spectate, one bar of 3G if you stood in the right spot, it really was a cool way to spend the afternoon.
